RAM holds a programs data whilst the CPU processes them, the RAM only holds this information for short peroids of time and then forgets it. the more RAM you have installed the faster your PC will operate. RAM is important for a gaming rig, when deciding on your RAM you will need to check what type your motherboard is compatiable with, it is more than likely that your motherboard will support either ddr2 or ddr3 RAM. I suggest, when deciding on your RAM that you go with the more expensive manufacturer like corsair or kingston. You will want to be looking at something like dual sticks of 1GB ddr2 with 800mhz clock speed. This should be minimal inside a good solid gaming rig.
